An element of hope in a Do It Yourself childhood.I think this is a 5-star read for sure and I liked the recounting of the backstory and the reuniting of the sisters moving towards the solving of the mysteries and the truth behind the lies. Since that time, author Barbara O’Neal has been on my radar, and while her books aren’t auto buys for me, I almost always end up reading them eventually. In When We Believed in Mermaids, Kit and Josie share many different types of love. It's a cute theme about mermaids and would be a very safe PG-ish book club read. It is the beauty of this house that leads to questions and an unresolved mystery about the actress being stabbed to death in her bedroom.The sisters are neglected by their parents and only find relief when a young man comes to care for them and assist the chef in the restaurant.
