It was built at D. A.R state park. Which the man did, and the little pig built a house with it.

The explanation about all the houses was great, thanks.I like the simplicity of the white house with blue shutters best, especially with the porches the film crew added.

And your photos of the house are beautiful!very nice post, i certainly love this website, keep on it“Stuart Little:” A Small House with a Big PersonalityThe Filming Locations from the Movie “Notting Hill” It is now used as the center hall table (all of the leafs were taken out) The table was built for the house in the 1800’s.All of the interior shoots in the movie were filmed at this house.Noah and Ali’s house get my vote as well. The allee of Live Oaks on the approach to the house is very impressive. the name is also the name of the undertakers cottages at The Boone Plantation.I did not know that Black River Plantation was a Sears Kit house. !Thanks for your comment on my back to school post You’re right, an English degree does come in handy for blogging. Many plantation homes on the tour had the front door facing the water, but today you drive up from the other direction!Love this site! Just an added note, Allie’s summer home was filmed at Boone Hall, but only outside of the house. For some reason, through all the many times I have watched The Notebook, I have always thought the nursing home was the white house with the blue shutters.

I loved the extra tidbits of information, too. I adore the fact that they built it backwards.

It’s such a sweet movie! ( what is the round window for anyway? That staircase in the picture looks very familiar. They are radically different. They determine that when a person is dying, they see their children. Wonderful movie and homes! This is one of those rare movies that did justice to the book. thank you thank you! IMO this is a case of the movie being better than the book was. Thanks for posting these Julia, they must be a ton of work (I love movies, but if I had to write these posts I would never remember to take all the photos like you do, I’d be too engrossed in the movie! Thanks for all the research you put into these Movie Mondays!Boone Hall was also used in Alex Hailey’s Queen. Mistakes happen, even in Hollywood. The things we would hear might be amazing. But why did it ever have to come to an end? Great research. The lead was played by James Reed. The show had a good run and would end on May 10th, 1982. please let me knw if this was the purpose!Where can i find the blueprint to the house that Noah rebuilt? I would never imagine they would buy a kit and make a big house like this one! Thank you for the pictures and the chance to revisit those beautiful houses. Please feature the Doris Day movie “Don’t Eat the Daisies.” There is an apartment and an old house that has a before and after!I have a suggestion. What is the truth? So beautiful, thanks again. He told me it was old and ugly….don’t you know though, he gave it to me!

The house shown above (in the movie and photo) is NOT a Sears Magnolia. THIS COMING FROM A GUY SAYING , THE MOVIE AT THE END BROUGHT TEARS TO MY EYES SEEING ALLIE NOT REMEMBERING AND THEN SEEING THEM ,END UP DYING IN THE NURSING HOME TOGETHER . It is similar to the layout of the stairs in Strangers on a Train, but the balusters are more Gothic.

It was filmed at Black River Plantation in Georgetown County, South Carolina. That movie is one of my favorites … I SOB EVERY TIME!! The show had a good run and would end on May 10th, 1982. Thanks for a great post! Such an interesting post too. It was known as Mont Royal Plantation for the movie.

Bravo. The primary reason Michael Landon blew up the town was because he was mad they canceled the show and did not want anybody to use his set.

Our office gets more emails about this film (and those incredible houses) than any other, even “Forrest Gump” and ‘The Patriot”. By PAUL GRONDAHL Staff writer.
