I would love to see some of the new technology applied to clean up the grain. This is the type of western that you can rewatch several times and find something new --not only is the cast of the chart, but the acting, the dialogue, the humor, the good writing makes it an outstanding movie. If you are looking for a very entertaining western, it's hard to top this one. This is a beautiful film, which deserved a better transfer to Blu-ray.
All together a good DVD especially if you love Westerns as I do. The location manager appeared at the property of local natives Bill and Marian Cook. Silverado is damn good fun. Kasdan manages to lift/copy many classic elements from really great westerns: an over-the drivers shoulder shot from inside a covered wagon, from Hawks Red River, the door frame shot near the beginning from Ford's The Searchers, and the line "Start the ball" near the end from Peckinpah's Ride the High Country, just to name three. Although opinions differed as to the precise cause of death, it was generally agreed that the final nail in the coffin was the failure of Michael Cimino's massive "Heaven's Gate". ...a sequel to "Silverado" might not so much concentrate so much on the exploits of the brothers, anyways, despite the closing line, "We'll be back!!!
This kind of sham is likely what did westerns in after all. The prime video platform is not as easy to maneuver as Netflix or Microsoft movies but my son is happy that he can watch this anytime. Just plain glorious to watch all these stars in a fun western. There is a lot of comedy to the movie, and much seriousness. Contact Sony/Columbia Pictures and demand a sequel.
