Hi, I have a shed with some baby swallows nesting. There’s a swallow nest on our roof.
It can’t fly but looks healthy. I’ve left well alone for a few hours and the alive baby had decided to hide in a drain. Their parents are watching from nearby.

If there is a safe way to put the chick back in the nest it's ok to do that. I’ve just had a quick google and it says swallows should be able to fly when they leave the nest so it’s got no chance of flying back up to the nest :-( Saw this posted by local rspb reserve on social media.Can you get it back in the nest?
Are there any crows about? If it was put back in and shoved out again, the parents know what they're doing. Any other Information will help, we really don't know what to do with it. So we are now left with a baby swallow, what we don't know what to do with. Please don't. Look for a rehab here:the little fella if left on the work bench below the nest will get fed by mom and pop. A shallow margarine or ice cream tub or low plastic flower pot fixed at the old nest site makes a good substitute. This morning I found one baby dead on our patio and another hiding amongst some plant pots and shrubs. They could have pulled the babies from the nests.

Do not worry about your scent being on the chick..birds have a very poorly developed sense of smell and will NOT reject a baby that has been touched. The crows arrived and raided the nests about a week ago, lots of dead baby birds on the grass and the rest eaten while the parents all flapped around screeching, I know it's nature but Oh no that's so sad. Just take a towel put it in a shoe box that has holes punched into it and transport it that way. Birds do not have a sense of smell so touching them has bad effect. It's probably fallen Thank you that’s the bit I read on the rspb site too. Surely the crows would have come back and eaten them, if it was them?
