Didn’t see the twist coming at allI gotta stop rating books immediately after I read them and then lower the rating after I process them in detail in my mind and find tons of plot holesThe beginning hooked me in because I was intrigued to learn more about Alicia's story, how her husband was murdered, and why she chose to remain silent. Potty Mouth. That’s a weird statement to make, but it works in context. This is me by the end of the book!! I absolutely loved it! We all want to spend more time lost in the pages of great books. But I swear to fuck, when he clips his toenails in bed I could really, truly smother him with a pillow until all the life drains from his body. The twist is quite clever, but not to toot my own boob, I did figure out what was coming. It made me wonder if the TV series is an adaptation? He takes a job in the hospital where she is locked up and starts his mostly one-sided conversations with Alicia in the hopes of getting her to finally explain why she did what she did to her husband, who by all accounts, she was madly in love with. What I found less understandable is when Theo begins working at the institution and meets Alicia for the second time. This is me by the end of the book!! Published The possibilities are just so fucking endless. For me I need conflict on every page that pulls the reader through the text.I’m giving this novel all the stars! I mean, you can make any character seem suspicious and create false suspense very easily if you have no obligation to deliver any resolutions. He probably creases his jeans too. I was expecting to be more involved in Alicia’s life and the mystery behind her husband’s murder.

The only thing that's missing is a blackout drunk female narrator--but don't worry, there's a heavily-medicated, silent female to fill that void.A lot to love about this tightly-woven, twist-filled, expertly-structured psychological suspense.
Also, no one has ever truly loved you for who you are. Maybe more time on Alicia would have helped this novel feel more well rounded and not so one-sided on the lame Doctor Faber with his creepy obsessions and daddy issues.

I wrote the film The Devil You Know (2013) starring Rosamund Pike and co-wrote The Con is On (2018), starring Uma Thurman, Tim Roth, Parker Posey and Sofia Vergara. She recognises him (though we don’t know this until the end), and Theo decides that to protect himself Alicia needs to die.

Like Like. I would recommend this as a domestic thriller/drama for those who enjoy mindgames, and the less-bloody mysteries. Synopsis for The Silent Patient: Alicia Berenson is married to a successful fashion photographer.Everything seems perfect until one evening, when Alicia shoots him five times in the face, and then never speaks another word. It's simpl...Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect.

Shot him in the head repeatedly while he was tied to a chair, as a matter of fact. The story and characters just didn't hold my attention. I felt like the author was so determined to deliver the big ‘twist’ that he lost sight of the actual plot.

Post was not sent - check your email addresses! She wasn’t speaking anyway until Theo starting having sessions with her – he could have avoided it all….to me it just seemed all rather odd. The story and characters just didn't hold my attention.

I thought it was a great debut novel too. The Silent Patient is the kind of thriller that nags at you the entire time you’re reading it.

Theo shoots the ceiling then leaves and Alicia shoots Gabriel in the face. I've not yet read The Silent Patient - but plan to. For shits sake! I was intrigued right from the start and found it to be quite the page-turner.Once I picked this book up, I couldn’t stop and finished it in two sittings. [ Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect.

def a new favourite author xI’m so glad I didn’t read any reviews. but its starting to require a really unexpected twist to make a thriller/mystery memorable for me. Placing a salt circle around my entire life.Reader. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. Stepmom. However, the book ended up bordering as a cheesy murder mystery, with the main character acting like a white-knight detective who would question a bunch of cartoonish side characters that just outright admit their motivations or feelings about Alicia.

It tells the story of Alicia, who killed her husband, Gabriel, six years earlier—and hasn’t spoken since. As a psychotherapist, Theo Faber thought it was obvious that Alicia Berenson had suffered a severe trauma surrounding her husband, Gabriel’s death.
Story Lover. I thought it was a great debut novel too. but I cannot find the post. Gave it a hundred pages. Not enough conflict soon enough. by Celadon Books
